Abattoir, not Abbatoir from the Eulogy of Basquiat Series, is a 30 x 30 inch mixed-media work featuring a cow toy figure, acrylic, oil pastels, and markers on canvas. It reflects childhood memories in Agege, Lagos, near the Abattoir between Agege and Abule Egba, where smell, language, and consumption intersect. The work explores cultural contradiction, mispronunciation, and sensory memory, transforming nostalgia and discomfort into a raw neo-expressionist reflection on place and experience.
