Ẹwàtómí – “Beauty Is Enough for Me”

Ẹwàtómí is inspired by the idea of self-acceptance within Yoruba cultural thought, where names carry emotional and philosophical meaning.

This work reflects a moment of quiet realization that beauty is not something to pursue endlessly, but something already present and sufficient. The figure’s closed eyes and composed gesture suggest a retreat inward, a space where self-worth is affirmed without external influence.

Within my Oríkì Series, I approach names as expressions of identity and lived experience. In this piece, beauty becomes a statement of contentment and completeness.

I hope viewers see themselves within this work, especially in moments of doubt or comparison, and come to a gentle understanding that what they seek outwardly may already exist within them. Ẹwàtómí is a quiet affirmation: that beauty, in its truest form, is enough.
