Lullaby

This painting is inspired by the peace a child experiences in the care of a loving mother. Surrounded by generations of family and watched over by unseen guardians, the child rests in safety and comfort. The work celebrates the protection, guidance, and sense of belonging that nurture a child from the very beginning of life.

Cowries are hand-stitched to depict, according to the African tradition, the sacredness of life and the family bond.
