Taiwo is a figurative artist born in 1998 in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Nigeria. From an early age, art became his voice a channel through which he processes and communicates the experiences of the people around him and the broader realities of African life. He holds a degree from Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo State, and recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Fine and Applied Arts at the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

At the heart of Taiwo’s practice is a deep fascination with the human figure, its mysteries, its expressiveness, and its power as a vehicle for storytelling. He works across several artistic mediums but gravitates toward mixed media on canvas, drawn to the versatility and textural richness the combination offers. A defining feature of his work is his signature practice of drawing intricate scribes of patterns across each piece a personal mark that is uniquely his and binds his body of work together as a recognisable whole.

Taiwo’s art is unafraid to confront what is unsaid. His paintings address love, emotion, black power, hope, joy, pain, sociopolitical issues, and the complexities of relationships subjects he feels are not given enough attention or care in Nigerian public discourse. He draws inspiration from the lived experiences of those around him, turning the intimate and the overlooked into works of quiet, insistent power.

He has participated in the 2022 American Art Awards and the Life in My City Art Festival (LIMCAF) in Ibadan, Nigeria in 2023.
